Theodorus Antonides, an eighteenth-century Dutch preacher and scholar, is primarily known for his thorough study of the ancient Olympic Games in his book “Olympia”.
But was he merely a preacher and scholar? Or can we also consider him a visionary ahead of his time – an intellectual forerunner of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games?
